India were well set for 300 before the last 10 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik fell in close proximity and the incoming batsmen struggled to keep the run-rate high at the end. Dhawan though played superbly at the top when scoring was easier and caressed the ball around the park for a classy 127. His partnership with Rayudu was crucial for India and it laid the platform.
Hong Kong fought back well in the end and they will be very happy with the way their bowlers performed in the death overs, especially Kinchit Shah who took 3-39 bowling his off spin. 285 is still a big score though and Hong Kong will have to bat well against a very good bowling attack.

India were given a real scare against Hong Kong but in the end they showed their class with the ball to finish out the match. Hong Kong can be very proud of their efforts after breaking multiple records, including their highest ODI score batting second and their first 100 run opening partnership. That partnership was the key and had Rath and Nizakat stuck around for a little while longer who knows what could have happened.
It has been a very tough first game for India and they will have to recover quickly before taking on Pakistan tomorrow.
