  • 62.6

OUT! Bowled. Trent Boult to Mohammed Shami. Half volley, middle stump on the front foot working, missed to. Full delivery which does the trick after the short ball. Late to get his bat down and the stumps get scattered.
Very good display from the Kiwi bowlers in the evening session after being a little wayward early on. They managed to wrap up the Indian innings for 242 after India went into tea at 194-5. Kyle Jamieson was the chief destroyer taking a maiden five wicket haul in the process.
Should still be enough in it for the bowlers with the new ball so this will be an interesting end to the day.

OUT! Caught. Kyle Jamieson to Ravindra Jadeja. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Boult. Jamieson has a maiden five wicket haul. He hasn't been at his best but since tea everything has gone perfect for him. Very good short ball to Jadeja at the back shoulder and he can't keep it down or go over fine leg.

  • 58.3

FOUR! Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Length ball, off stump on the back foot glancing, inside edge past fine leg for 4 runs. Small tickle down the leg side which sends the ball rolling towards the fence for four.

  • 58.2

FOUR! Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Out-swinging length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past long on for 4 runs. The only way Jadeja knows how to play, but also the best way in this situation. Hitting through the line over mid on.

  • 58.1

Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Out-swinging length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Boult.

  • 73.1

OUT! Caught. Mohammed Shami to Kyle Jamieson. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to fine leg, by Pant. Jamieson is denied his first fifty by another spectacular grab. Pant has to sprint and put in a full length dive, getting his gloves to it a couple of inches above the turf. That was amazing entertainment.

India have a lead but it is a slender one thanks to some lower order hitting by New Zealand. Just seven runs seperate the two teams after the first innings so this Test is shaping up beautifully. At one stage it seemed as though the tourists would be further ahead than that, Kyle Jamieson had other ideas though. India's fast bowlers were excellent and Ravindra Jadeja faultless with the ball. The highlight of the session though was unquestionably Jadeja's athletic catch to remove Neil Wagner.

  • 72.6

Jasprit Bumrah to Trent Boult. Short, outside off stump backing away Leave, Left to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Pant.

  • 72.5

Jasprit Bumrah to Kyle Jamieson. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, to point for 1 run, fielded by Rahane.

  • 72.4

Jasprit Bumrah to Kyle Jamieson. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, hit helmet to short leg for no runs. Ouch, pinned on the bonce and bits of the helmet go flying. Jamieson seems okay but he will need a quick check from the physio. It allows us some time to enjoy more replays of the ridiculous Jadeja catch.

  • 72.3

Jasprit Bumrah to Trent Boult. Yorker, to leg backing away pushing, to point for 1 run, fielded by Shami.

  • 72.2

Jasprit Bumrah to Kyle Jamieson. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot flick, inside edge to short mid wicket for 1 run, shy attempt by Vihari.

  • 72.1

FOUR! Jasprit Bumrah to Kyle Jamieson. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past long on for 4 runs. Jamieson is going to cut loose now with only Boult for company. This is his best Test score and he is closing in on a maiden fifty.

  • 71.6

OUT! Caught. Mohammed Shami to Neil Wagner. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control to deep square leg, by Jadeja. Oh my word, that is one of the greatest catches of all time. That is not an exaggeration at all. Jadeja, who else, flings himself back and plucks it with one hand when it looks as though he has no chance of even getting near it. Wagner can't believe it because he nailed the shot and thought it was sailing to the boundary. Unbelievable stuff, find that on the highlight reel later for sure. Shami eventually gets his man but the credit should go entirely to the fielder. India need one more wicket.

  • 71.5

Mohammed Shami to Neil Wagner. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Fended, Spliced to short mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Agarwal.

  • 71.4

FOUR! Mohammed Shami to Neil Wagner. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed in the air under control past deep backward point for 4 runs. Scythed over point, Wagner wasn't worried about keeping that down he just threw the kitchen sink at it.

  • 70.6

Jasprit Bumrah to Neil Wagner. Half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Bumrah.

  • 70.5

  • 70.4

Jasprit Bumrah to Neil Wagner. Short, down leg side ducked Leave, Left to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Pant.

  • 70.3

FOUR! Jasprit Bumrah to Neil Wagner. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Lara-esque batting by Wagner, the crowd at Hagley Oval is loving this. Flayed through the covers with contempt. Runs flowing for the Black Caps, this partnership is changing the complexion of the match.

  • 70.2

Jasprit Bumrah to Neil Wagner. Half volley, off stump on the front foot working, well timed to long on for 2 runs, fielded by Agarwal.

  • 70.1

Jasprit Bumrah to Neil Wagner. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Bumrah.

  • 69.6

FOUR! Mohammed Shami to Kyle Jamieson. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Stand and deliver, Jamieson is starting to assert himself out there. He took the ball at the top of it's bounce and slammed it back past the bowler. India's lead is dwindling.

  • 69.5

Mohammed Shami to Kyle Jamieson. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot working, to mid on for no runs, fielded by Yadav.

  • 69.4

Mohammed Shami to Neil Wagner. Short, outside off stump on the back foot hooking, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep backward square leg for 1 run, fielded by Jadeja.

  • 68.3

FOUR! Ravindra Jadeja to Neil Wagner. Stock length ball, outside off stump on the front foot sweeping, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. Swept with impunity, quality stuff from Wagner. India often have troubles mopping up the tail and it's proving to be the case again today.

  • 68.2

Ravindra Jadeja to Neil Wagner. Stock length ball, off stump on the front foot working, to mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Kohli.

  • 45.6

OUT! Run Out. Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot working, to silly mid on, shy attempt by Boult, by Williamson. Confusion in the running and Bumrah is stranded in the middle of the pitch. They were desperate to keep Jadeja on strike for the next over but Boult was alert to it. The non-striker over-committed and even though the bowler missed with his throw on the turn, Williamson was there to tidily complete the job.

Just 34 runs added by India this morning, they will have wanted more from their last four wickets but New Zealand were sublime with the ball. The fact that Southee and Boult continued to find prodigious swing and seam movement will be a source of encouragement for the tourists. 132 will be the target for the hosts, it won't be easy however they will be very confident of getting there to complete a 2-0 series win.

  • 45.5

Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot flick, Play and Miss (Leg Side) to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Watling.

  • 45.3

FOUR! Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Back of a length, outside off stump down the track driving, well timed in the air under control past long on for 4 runs. Clubbed over the top, Jadeja is looking very dangerous here to keep India in the contest. The ultra-aggressive approach seems to be the best way to go at the moment.

  • 45.2

Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Back of a length, middle stump on the back foot shoulders arms, shoulders arms to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Watling.

  • 43.5

SIX! Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Out-swinging length ball, middle stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Clean as a whistle, that's a mighty blow by Jadeja back over the bowler's head. A few more of those and India will feel a bit better about the equation.

  • 43.4

Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja. Out-swinging length ball, outside off stump down the track Slog, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Watling.

  • 42.4

OUT! Caught. Tim Southee to Mohammed Shami. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Blundell. It was only a matter of time before Shami went for a big swipe and he's picked out the man in the deep. That's the kind of shot that's more suited to the end of a white-ball match, certainly not what India need with the very capable Jadeja at the other end and all the time in the world to play with. Hitting into the wind it was going to take something special to clear the fence, Blundell was always favourite to grab it.

  • 42.3

Tim Southee to Ravindra Jadeja. Seaming away length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, outside edge to short third man for 1 run, fielded by Watling, fielded by Taylor.

  • 35.6

Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls. Stock ball half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Yadav.

New Zealand have beaten India by 7 wickets in Christchurch to seal a 2-0 series victory, making a potentially tricky chase of 132 look simple in the end. Arriving at Hagley Oval this morning, the tourists knew they needed a partnership or two to push their lead towards 200 and put the pressure on the Black Caps. Trent Boult and Tim Southee soon thwarted that plan, mopping up the final four wickets cheaply with skilful swing bowling. If there were any nerves in the Kiwi camp they didn't show because Tom Latham and Tom Blundell calmly went about constructing a century partnership to flatten India's hopes. Kyle Jamieson scoops the Player of the Match award for his brilliant allround display, while Tim Southee gets the series award for his superb bowling across both games. Virat Kohli and his team will know that their batting wasn't up to scratch in this Test or the previous one, ultimately that has cost them dearly. It's a welcome return to form for Kane Williamson's men though, they are a formidable unit in home conditions and have jumped up to third place in the World Test Championship table.

  • 35.5

Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls. Stock length ball, middle stump on the front foot working, to short mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Kohli.

  • 35.5

APPEAL! Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls. Stock ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, missed to wicketkeeper for 1 run, by Pant, appeal made for Caught. Big appeal but India are just clutching at straws now. They take a punt on a review anyway and replays show Jadeja has overstepped. Nicholls didn't edge it in any case.

FOUR! Virat Kohli to Henry Nicholls. Seaming away half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, thick edge in the air uncontrolled past deep backward point for 4 runs. Kohli elicits a false stroke but Nicholls gets away with it. He will have been worried for a moment there as the ball skewed away.

Virat Kohli to Henry Nicholls. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to mid off for no runs, fielded by Agarwal.

  • 34.2

  • The Indian captain is coming on for a rare trundle. He used to be a very handy medium pacer but doesn't bowl too much these days. Keeping the sunglasses on, very cool.
