Sri Lanka have done a decent job today given the position the visitors were in. They need to get some confidence back with a good batting display now. A nice 30 minute stint for India to do some damage before tea.

Great morning session of cricket that. Plenty of runs, a few wickets, and India have had something to think about. Mathews was looking in good touch but unfortunately picked out a fielder in a decent looking stroke. Dilruwan Perera has also been brilliant, with some extravagant shots on show. India nipped out three wickets though, and will probably be batting again in the afternoon session with just the one wicket needed. A reminder that Asela Gunaratne is out of the Test with a fractured thumb. Hopefully another couple of sessions like that to come.

A huge win for India to start the series. They dominated every day, and fully deserved their win. Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara set up the game for them with big hundreds in the first innings. Their bowlers all contributed in the wickets columns as well. The Indian skipper even had time to bag a century for himself this morning, and it all caps off a perfect Test for the visitors.
Injuries have not helped the hosts, but they were thoroughly outplayed, and will have to improve if they are to compete in the next two games.
