  • India have won 31 of their completed 34 women’s ODIs against Sri Lanka (L3), winning more games in the format only against England (P77 W36 L41); three of those wins have been at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, with the Women in Blue’s only loss to their Asian counterparts in the tournament coming at home back in 2013 (loss by 138 runs at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai).
  • India have won 12 of their last 15 women’s ODIs at home (L3), with two of their three losses in that span coming in their recently concluded bilateral series against Australia which the Women in Blue lost 1-2.
  • Sri Lanka have lost seven of their last 10 women’s ODIs (W3), including each of their last two such games on the bounce; their last win in the format away from home came against Ireland at Belfast on 20 August 2024 (won by 8 wickets).
  • India have won their first game in each of the last eight editions of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, last failing to do so in 1982, when they lost to Australia by 153 runs in Auckland.
  • Sri Lanka have won the opening game of an ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup only once in their five participations in the tournament in the 21st century, doing so in 2013 when they beat England by one wicket at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
  • India logged a bowling average of 26.5 during the 2022 edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, the second best such rate in the tournament behind only Australia (26); indeed, the Women in Blue’s bowling dot ball rate of 59% was bettered only by England’s 59.5% at the tournament.
  • Smriti Mandhana (4,888) is 112 runs away from becoming the fifth player and second Indian to score 5,000 runs in women’s ODIs (also Mithali Raj, Charlotte Edwards, Suzie Bates and Stafanie Taylor); if Mandhana (108 innings presently) reaches the milestone at any stage during ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, she will become the fastest player to do so, breaking Stafanie Taylor’s record (129 innings).
  • Chamari Athapaththu (58) is set to overtake Shashikala Siriwardene (also 58) as the player to captain Sri Lanka in most women’s ODIs; indeed, no other captain in the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has led her side more often in the format than Athapaththu.
  • Kranti Goud (India) has taken 14 wickets in women’s ODIs in 2025 at a strike rate of 21.7, the third highest of any seam bowler in the format this year (min. 25 overs bowled); Goud has taken a wicket in each of her last six women’s ODIs, but the last time she failed to do so was against Sri Lanka on 11 May 2025.
  • Dewmi Vihanga has taken 11 wickets at a strike rate of 21.2 in women’s ODIs in 2025, the second best such rate of any Sri Lanka bowler in the format in the last 20 years (min. 30 overs bowled) after Oshadi Ranasinghe (20.4 in 2023).
