Hello and welcome for India's reply with the bat. A win here will seal the series for them. The Zimbabwean players are in a huddle behind the ropes. Now, they spring out and disperse to take their fielding spots. The two Indian openers, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, stride out to the crease. Nyasha Gwanzura is taking the new ball herself with Shafali on strike. Here we go again...

    ... The Run Chase ...

  • 0.0

Easy chase? Against a power-packed Indian batting line-up, 103 is nowhere near a threatening total. Still, the hosts were tested in the series opener, where a below-par chase made them work hard for every run. So they will want to produce a clinical chase this time, with the top order stepping up. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will try to replicate the control they showed in the first T20I, though the job now is to defend a very low score. Let's see how it plays out. Back shortly with the chase.

A quick word with the youngster - Niki Prasad is speaking to the broadcasters. Niki says it feels really good to contribute with the ball and deliver for the team. Shares that she is keen to make the most of every opportunity that comes her way. On the diving catch, she says she had missed an opportunity in the previous game and was determined not to let the ball touch the ground this time. She adds that staying calm and continuing to improve remain key to her approach.

No momentum whatsoever - Zimbabwe played some nice shots but got nothing to show for them in the restrictions. The Powerplay ended at 20/1, and they looked far too conservative, purely focused on preserving wickets, but in that process, they soaked up a stream of dot balls until the pressure got to them. A 45-run stand between Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and skipper Nkomo finally got things moving, but just as the innings found some shape, Niki Prasad delivered a gut punch and her double whammy completely derailed Zimbabwe's innings. Skipper Nkomo kept fighting till the end, but Zimbabwe never really recovered from that nosedive as they kept losing one wicket after the other towards the backend.

Hunted in a pack - After 114/5 in the first T20I, Zimbabwe have slumped to 102/8 in the second. It was a complete bowling effort from the Indians, who kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Of the seven bowlers used, Niki Prasad stood out with a couple of wickets, but the Women in Blue were tight across the board. A few spilled chances in the field are the only blemish they will want to fix going forward.

OUT! FRANCISCA CHIPARE IS RUN OUT! Gaud continues to nail her yorkers, on off. Nkomo digs it out towards backward point and sets off for a run. The fielder has a shy at the batting end but misses. As the ball rolls towards deep square leg, the batters attempt a second run. Chipare is happy with one, but her partner pushes her to go for the second. The throw comes in from deep towards the bowling end with both batters stranded at the batting end. Gaud has the option of walking up to the stumps to dislodge the bails, but instead goes for an underarm throw and hits the stumps to catch Chipare short.

  • 19.5

Executes another yorker, on middle. Josephine Nkomo squeezes it out back to the bowler.

  • 19.4

Goes fulll now, on middle. Josephine Nkomo advances down the track and thumps it hard but picks out the mid off fielder.

  • 19.3

Hits the good length, around off. Josephine Nkomo looks to launch it back over the bowler's head but mistimes the shot to mid off.

  • 19.2

Run out chance missed! Bowled on a short of a length, on middle. Josephine Nkomo swings it away wide of deep mid-wicket and comes charging back for the second run. Francisca Chipare is struggling to make her ground as the throw comes in from the deep. Gaud cannot get up to the stumps in time, and after gathering the ball, she tries to flick it onto the sticks but misses, allowing Chipare to make her ground.

  • 19.1

Gets the yorker in at the toes. Josephine Nkomo steps out but manages to dig it out back to the bowler.

Time for the final over of the first innings. It will be bowled by Kranti Gaud. How many more can Zimbabwe get from here? Let's find out.

  • 18.6

Attacking the sticks, and the length stays full. Francisca Chipare defends it watchfully with a straight bat.

  • 18.5

Full and drifting in, on middle. Chipare pushes out in front of her body. Chips it well in front of the fielder at cover.

  • 18.4

Floated up, on middle. Francisca Chipare presents a straight bat to block it out.

  • 0.0

You cannot keep Niki out of action tonight. Two important wickets with the ball, and a spectacular catch now. And she is yet to bat. Francisca Chipare is in at number 9.

  • 18.3

OUT! CAUGHT! That is a spectacular diving catch. Charani drops it short, on middle. Michelle Mavunga rocks back for the pull but gets it high on the bat, spooning it towards deep mid-wicket. Niki Prasad comes charging in off the ropes and dives forward to take the catch. The on-field umpires want to be sure and they refer it upstairs. The replays confirm that Niki was in complete control of the ball and at no point did the ball come in contact with the ground.

  • 18.2

Doing too much? Full and fired into the pads. Mavunga has a swipe across the line and is beaten past the inside edge to get hit on the pads. Seemed to be going down leg and there were two noises so there might have been an inside edge as well.

  • 18.1

Low full toss, darted in on middle and leg. Josephine Nkomo steps out and whips it towards long on for a single.

  • 0.0

Who will bowl the penultimate over? It will be Sree Charani (3-0-20-0). She has been wicketless so far. And would like to have a wicket to her name.

  • 17.6

FOUR! Crunched! Full and outside off. Michelle Mavunga gets the width to free her arms and she gets her hands through the line of the ball to power the drive past extra cover for a four.

  • 17.5

On a back of a length, on middle. Michelle Mavunga pushes it to cover.

  • 0.0

Michelle Mavunga is the new batter in.

  • 17.4

OUT! MODESTER MUPACHIKWA IS RUN OUT! There was never a run there and Mupachikwa has paid the price. Bowled on a length, outside off. Modester walks across the stumps for the scoop and gets more off the toe end of the blade. As the ball dribbles towards short fine leg, she sets off for the run but her partner is going nowhere and Modester is sent back. Sree Charani swoops in and fires in an accurate throw near the stumps. Richa Ghosh gathers and breaks the stumps. The third umpire is called into action. There is no doubt that Modester is short of her ground but the third umpire wants to be sure that Ghosh is in complete control of the ball and she is happy with Ghosh's effort looking at the best possible angle.

  • 0.0

Is that a run out at the batting end? Looks like it as the batter is short of her crease. But the TV umpire is checking whether Richa held the ball properly in her grasp while breaking the stumps. A couple of angles are carefully studied before the verdict is passed. It is a clean attempt by Ghosh and OUT loads on the giant screen.

  • 17.3

Slips in the yorker, on middle. Josephine Nkomo jams it out towards mid-wicket for one.

  • 17.2

Flat and short, on off. Modester Mupachikwa taps it to deep cover for a run.

  • 17.1

Around off, on a good length. Nkomo has a jab at the ball. The ball gets squirted off the outer half wide of point for another single.

  • 16.6

FOUR! Gets it through! Floated up, on off. Modester Mupachikwa shimmies down the track and reaches out to crack the drive past the diving cover fielder for a boundary.

Two done, one left - India have bossed up the T20I series with a game to spare, leading by 2-0. It was a far sharper performance from the hosts, who proved too hot to handle for the Lady Chevrons. For Nkomo and her group, there is little to lose and plenty to learn from taking on one of the top-ranked sides in the world. Moving into the next one, Zimbabwe will want to improve in every department, but above all, their batting needs to click as a unit, with contributions across the order rather than one or two players carrying the load. The third and final T20I will be played in Raipur itself, on Tuesday, 20th October. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 1.30 pm GMT (7 pm IST). But our build-up begins in advance, so do join for that as well. Until then, we signoff from here. CIAO!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Shafali Verma takes home the award for her blistering 55 off just 25 balls, which included six fours and four towering sixes. Starts by saying that the shots she is trying to hit are coming off, and she is just happy she could execute them. She admits she couldn’t sleep after the way she got out in the last game. Falling to an off-spinner as a right-hander was not the right way to go, she says, so today she tried to bend a little, time the ball better and take a single when a boundary wasn’t on. When asked about her favorite shot of the day, she points to the one she hit off the cover against the pacers in the second or third over, which gave her a lot of confidence. She also speaks about her long-term work. Details that when she was back home in 2025, she sat down and thought about what she could improve, and consistency stood out. She adds that she studied the Australian batters to see what they were doing to get better.

The victorious Indian captain - Smriti Mandhana is all smiles as she walks up to have a chat with Anjum Chopra. Calls it a good outing, singling out the bowlers, who were right on the mark. They were far better than in the first game, she says, executing the slower balls and yorkers really well. She singles out Deepti, Shree and Niki, with Niki striking twice on her bowling debut. She does see room to improve in the field, though. Admits that their catching could have been better today, and that is something India can criticise themselves for. On the plan to bowl fuller, she explains that the team discussed it after the first game, having seen Zimbabwe bat. Adds that the plans only work if you execute them, and today the bowlers did. On the chase, Mandhana says Shafali was doing her thing, hitting hard in the Powerplay, and she was happy to hand her the strike. Notes that she took on her own chances when they came, and that is the brand of cricket India loves to play and will keep playing.

The captain of Zimbabwe Women - Josephine Nkomo reflects on the defeat. She begins by admitting that it was a batting masterclass by the Indian openers. Humbly says that her side could only stand and applaud, and there was no better place to watch that carnage from. The main difference, in her view, was the start. Details that Zimbabwe did not get off to a good Powerplay. She hopes the side can lay a good foundation in the next game so the bowlers are not exposed. On areas to improve before the last T20I, she repeats that Zimbabwe should watch how India batted. If they can take a leaf out of that book, she says, it will do them good.

Clinical with the ball - After choosing to bat first, Zimbabwe could only muster 103. India's bowling was disciplined from start to finish, and Niki Prasad made a dream bowling debut, striking with her first two balls in international cricket. Gaud, Nandani, Deepti and Shree Charani all chipped in with wickets as well to keep the Chevrons ladies at bay. Mugeri-Tiripano and captain Josephine Nkomo were the only Zimbabwe batters to reach double figures, adding 45 for the fifth wicket. Nkomo stayed unbeaten but kept losing partners in the second half of the innings, and the total never really took off.

The openers got the job done - India were reduced to 19/4 chasing 115 in the first T20I, with the top order crushed, but this time openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma made sure there were no hiccups at all. They unleashed a stream of eye-pleasing shots and never let the Chevrons catch their breath. Shafali was at her best, scoring a scintillating half-century as India smashed half the runs of the chase inside the Powerplay itself. Verma eventually fell, but Mandhana, who looked at her fluent best, finished the job with aplomb. In the end, it came down to the boundaries. Zimbabwe managed only 13 fours and no sixes, while India hit 12 fours and six towering sixes on their way to chasing down 104. That's 84 runs in boundaries alone, which says plenty about how the two sides approached the contest.

Women in Blue crush the Chevrons - A job done clinically by the hosts and they have won the three-match T20I series, leading it 2-0 now. The Smriti Mandhana era is off to a commanding start, and this is India's 10th straight win in the shortest format, capping what is already their most successful year in T20Is. This is their 17th win out of 26 T20Is so far in 2026. Plenty for Zimbabwe to ponder, though. They pushed India into deep waters in the opening T20I, but this time they were blown away and outclassed in every department.

  • 8.5

SIX! Done and dusted in some style by the captain. She has made that shot look so easy on the eyes. INDIA WIN BY 9 WICKETS AND 67 BALLS TO SPARE! Nicely tossed up, wide outside off. Mandhana jumps down the track, gets right underneath it and swings through the line. It pings right off the middle of the bat, and soars over the wide long off fence for a six.

Shafali Verma c Tendai Makusha b Beloved Biza 55 (25)

OUT! CAUGHT! Fifty and out for Verma. But she has done her job for her side. Tossed up on the stumps, 72.2 kph, and Shafali dances down the track to launch it over long on, but she mistimes it and the ball doesn’t carry the distance. It goes up plenty high, and Tendai Makusha, waiting on the boundary, moves to her right and takes a very good catch on the second attempt. That ends a scintillating knock from Shafali. India Women are 96/1, needing just 7 runs to win.

  • 7.4

SIX! That has got a flight number attached to it. FIFTY FOR SHAFALI VERMA! From just 24 balls, and that's her 22nd T20I half-century. This is Shafali at her very best. She reads the fuller one early and skips out of the crease before unleashing a muscly heave over deep mid-wicket for a massive six.

  • 7.3

  • 6.5

SIX! WOWZA! Dropped on a fullish length, in front of the sticks. Smriti Mandhana picks the length early, dances down the track and magically powers it over deep mid-wicket for a cracking six. That's gone 85 meters away.

  • 6.4

An in-dipper, full on middle, Shafali advances down the track and yorks herself. Perhaps looks for a big shot but ends up carving the ball down to long on for a single.

  • 6.3

Back to around the stump. It is a length-delivery on the leg stump, Smriti takes a step across and whips it to deep mid-wicket for another single.

  • 6.2

Shortens the length from over the stump, outside off, Verma backs away and punches it to deep extra cover for an easy single.

  • 6.1

Pushed fuller on middle and leg from around the stumps, Smriti neatly drives it to long on for a single.

  • 0.0

Beaten! Comes from around the stump and lands it on a good length, angling across the right-hander. Shafali tries to guide it to the off side behind square but misses. India have smashed 76 runs in the Powerplay itself.
