The IPL 2024 is running smoothly towards its midway and as we enter the 4th weekend of the grand extravaganza, it is only pragmatic to look back at the previous week and its proceedings.
As things stand on April 12 (Friday), Rajasthan Royals sit on the top with 8 points in five matches. Delhi Capitals also managed to lift themselves up from the bottom with a clinical victory over Lucknow Super Giants as Royal Challengers Bengaluru have occupied their spot.

Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings registered victories in Week 3 of the IPL 2024 while it was a mixed outing for Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. KKR lost their solitary match of the week against CSK in Chennai.
So without further adieu, let's take a look at the players and teams who performed, and the ones who didn't perform.
Jasprit Bumrah owned the Week 3 of the IPL 2024. He has shown immense bowling skills and picked up 7 wickets in two matches to propel himself to the top of the Purple Cap list. Bumrah was the standout player of the week and showed his class against all teams, especially against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he picked up a five-for against the star-studded RCB batting lineup. The MI pacer is looking lethal and is the only bowler with an economy of less than 6 runs in the tournament so far.
Sanju Samson continued his run-scoring spree in the 3rd week of IPL. Rajasthan Royals played two matches and their captain played two superb knocks. He scored 69 runs off just 42 balls against RCB. And then he backed that up again with another 68 off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, unfortunately, it came in a losing cause for them. Samson has found his batting touch this season and is going to make the selection meeting for the T20 World Cup a tough one if he continues scoring in the same manner.
Ishan Kishan also finds himself in the hit list for his brilliant batting in the last two matches. If Jasprit Bumrah has done with the ball, Kishan has led MI with his blitzkrieg at the top of the batting. The 25-year-old has contributed heavily in their two victories last week, first with a 42 off 23 balls against Delhi Capitals. He then bettered it with another stunning 69-run knock in their win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The week 3 has been a blessing for Mumbai Indians. After a difficult start to the season, Mumbai Indians seem to have found their feet in the last two matches. They registered a fantastic victory over Delhi Capitals and then only bettered it against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
MI chased down a total of 197 runs with more than four overs to spare against RCB and scored 234 runs in the previous match against DC. Hardik Pandya has led his team excellently amid all the adversities and as things stand, they are placed 7th in the table, which is a significant improvement from where they were at the end of week two.
Devdutt Padikkal's woes in the IPL 2024 continued and he is the only constant from the Week 2 List of IPL 2024 Hits and Flops. The southpaw scored 3 and 7 in Lucknow's last two matches against Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans. He has only scored 25 runs this season in 5 innings and is on top of the flops list again.
Mohammad Siraj's lean patch in the IPL continued last week as well. The RCB pacer has been wayward this whole season. And it was the same again as he conceded 37 runs in just three overs, without any success against Mumbai Indians. Currently, Siraj only has four wickets in six matches in IPL 2024 and has an economy of over 10.4 runs with a bowling average north of 57.
It is generally once in a blue moon occurrence when David Warner is in the flop list. But the Australian veteran hasn't performed up to his level in the last two matches. Warner only managed 18 runs in the last two innings in the third week of the IPL 2024. In the first match against Mumbai Indians, he could manage only ten runs in a run chase of 235 runs. And then after against Lucknow, he scored just 8 runs. Luckily, the Capitals won against Lucknow to end their losing streak, but the Australian would want runs under his belt in the coming matches.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in a familiar position, which is frustration, disappointment and despair midway through an IPL season. They have lost five out of six matches, and are currently at the root of the table.
RCB played two matches in Week 3 and lost both of them. First, it was a defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals, followed by another defeat against Mumbai Indians. Virat Kohli has been the sole warrior with the willow, while Dinesh Karthik has also played some decent knocks. But the bowling has been below par every time in this season. With six matches played, they are currently staring down at the barrel again, and will need a radical change in their results to qualify for the playoffs.
