Lahore Qalandars

LAH vs MUL Dream11 prediction Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans, PSL 2023 Lahore Qalandars will take on Multan Sultans in match 31 and Qualifier of Pakistan Super League or PSL 2023 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday (March 14). Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans will start at 7:30 PM IST.

PSL 2023: Most runs | Most wickets | Most sixes | Most fours | Highest strike rate | Best bowling economy

Both sides are locked in the face-off after ruling the league stages with top-two finishes. Lahore Qalandars won seven of their 10 games to top the table with 14 points while Multan Sultans were right behind with 12 points.

Qalandars will also have a psychological advantage heading into the game as they defeated Multan Sultans twice in the league stages.

Lahore Qalandars injury update, key players

Lahore Qalandars come into the game losing their last game to Karachi Kings by massive margins as they had their key players Shaheen Afridi and Sikandar Raza rested for the game. The match also saw Rashid Khan suffer a concussion injury and is now doubtful for the game.

Who will partner Fakhar Zaman at the top?

Fakhar Zaman holds the key for Lahore Qalandars at the top of the order with 378 runs in 10 innings. The southpaw saw a dip in form recently but bounced back with a 115-run knock against title rivals Islamabad United.

However, with Mirza Tahir Baig losing the confidence of the captain, Qalandars promoted Abdullah Shafique from No. 3 to the opening slot but the right-handed batter scored just 2, 1, 7 in his last three outings.

Getting back into the team again, Kamran Ghulam impressed with a 31-ball 40 against Islamabad but wasted the next opportunity by scoring just 11 in the next game; raising a question mark over his consistency.

At No. 4 Sam Billings has been blowing hot and cold with some decent knocks of 32 and 54 in the last two innings but in the remaining three innings he managed just 13 runs. This included 11 runs in the last outing against Karachi.

Hussain Talat and Sikandar Raza hold key in middle order

Hussain Talat, in the recent past, has become a vital member of the team with credible knocks of 25 and 63 in his last two outings. The all-rounder will fit into the middle order with Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza, who has scored 198 runs despite batting lower down the order at a strike rate of 188.57.

There's enough firepower further down the order in David Wiese, Rashid Khan, and Shaheen Afridi.

However, all-rounders David Wiese and Raza haven't been among the wickets off late with the ball. The Namibian took two scalps in just five games while Raza took three in the same period and are utilised as bowling backups.

Pace all-rounder Talat has earned the trust of the captain at the same time with two wickets in the last game after not being utilised enough earlier in the tournament.

Lahore Qalandars fast-bowling trio catch pace

Shaheen Afridi has been among the best-performing pacers this PSL with 14 wickets to his name, including a five-wicket haul and a four-for recently. Haris Rauf's form at the same time has picked well in the late stages of the tournament and has now 14 wickets in 10 games. Ten of these dismissals came in the last five games.

Their understudy, Zaman Khan has made a good case for himself with 12 wickets, half of which came in the last three games with two dismissals in each match.

Rashid Khan's uncertainty may cost Qalandars dearly

Rashid Khan, however, has been the man with the ball for the side with 15 wickets in just seven games and his uncertainty for the game may make the difference against a formidable opponent in Multan Sultans. The Afghan leg-spinner picked his best bowling figure in PSL 2023 in the last game as his 4/21 broke the backbone of Islamabad's batting.

Multan Sultans injury update, team news, key players

Multan Sultans have no injury concerns ahead of the game but David Miller isn't available as he has joined the South African side on national duty. Multan Sultans are facing further selection headaches as they head into the game on a two-match winning run.

Usman Khan or Shan Masood as opener?

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan is all set to start the innings for Multan Sultans as he leads the Maroon Cap race with 483 runs in 10 games, including four half-centuries and a century. However, the question remains over his opening partner with Usman Khan slamming PSL's fastest century in 36 balls while scoring 120 runs in 43 deliveries against Quetta Gladiators in the last game.

Shan Masood has been Rizwan's opening partner since the beginning of the season and has been among the best opening combinations. Masood also confirmed his form with a 75-run knock against Islamabad United.

It will be hard to accommodate either of them at No. 3 with Rilee Rossouw recently slamming an entertaining 51-ball 121 after strings of poor knocks. The middle-order seemed set as well with Kieron Pollard scoring a half-century in just 25 balls while Tim David has been in the best of form as well with memories of his 27-ball 60 still fresh and was followed by another entertaining 43* against Quetta.

All-rounders Khushdil Shah, Anwar Ali and Usama Mir provide further firepower down the order. Pace all-rounder Anwar proved a bit costly in the last two games despite picking two wickets and came after bowling 3/33 against Islamabad United.

Multan spin bowling is weaker than Qalandars

Leg-spinner Mir, who saw a dip in the form off late, picked three wickets in the last three games and has 12 wickets to her name this PSL season. Shah, on the other hand, is yet to get enough overs from the captain as the Multan spin bowling lacked the firepower in comparison to Qalandars.

Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah have 42 wickets in 10 games among them

Their spin-bowling weaknesses are covered by the two upcoming Pakistan pacers in Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah, who have been ruling the Green Cap race with 22 and 20 wickets respectively. Ihsanullah has been leading the most wicket race early in the season while Abbas always kept himself in the race with a rich haul of wickets, including nine wickets in the last two games.

Who will be the fourth overseas player?

With spots of Tim David, Kieron Pollard and Rilee Rossouw looking confirmed in the playing 11, one spot remains open for the fourth overseas player. Three Windies players will lay claim to the spot in Akeal Hosein, Carlos Brathwaite, and Sheldon Cottrell. However, with Talat filling up the space for the third pacer, Afghan spinner Izharulhaq Naveed.
