  • End of Over 20
Over 20. 4 runs. Bowler: Tim Southee. England: 166/7 (rr 8.30)
  • 19.6

OUT! Run Out. Tom Curran to Tim Southee. Slower ball short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, missed to wicketkeeper, direct hit by Billings. Sharp bit of work from Billings behind the stumps. Southee swings hard and misses, and Santner tries to scurry through to nick an extra run. The keeper collects, and flings it into the stumps to prevent that from happening.

Decent total on the board from the hosts. Guptill got things off to a rapid start, and de Grandhomme carried that on through the middle overs. The Curran brothers were the pick of the bowlers for England, and Matt Parkinson did well on debut. It won't be an easy chase, but it should be an exciting 20 overs, whatever the result.

OUT! Bowled. Sam Curran to Jimmy Neesham. Reverse Swing-In half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, missed to. That has really tailed back into Neesham. Fired in full by Sam Curran, and the ball scoots past the flashing blade to cannon into the stumps. Top bowling.

OUT! L.B.W. Saqib Mahmood to Ross Taylor. Length ball, outside off stump Deep in crease Slog, hit pad to. Taylor steps back to create a good hitting length, but he tries to hit this one too hard. Maybe done for pace a little, and the ball skids through to smash into the back leg. Looked a little legside, but up goes the finger, and no review taken either. HawkEye says it was missing the stumps.

  • 19.6

Tim Southee to Tom Curran. Short, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, in the air under control to deep point for 2 runs, fielded by Santner.

New Zealand get through to win by 14 runs. The momentum swung between both teams quite a few times throughout the day, but the hosts held their nerve to go 2-1 up in the five match series. Dawid Malan and James Vince played marvellous innings' in the chase, but once those two were gone, England folded. Lockie Ferguson and Blair Tickner were the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis, and helped drag New Zealand back into a winning position. A big difference between the two sides today were the extras. New Zealand were much more disciplined, and deserve to come out on top.

So England must win the next one to stay in the series, that will be played on Friday in Napier. Join us again for that.

  • 18.5

SIX! Ish Sodhi to Tom Curran. Leg spinner length ball, off stump on the front foot Slog, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. That's a monster from Curran. He crushes this a very long way over deep mid wicket, and it travels out the stadium. A slither of hope given to England with that.

Sam Curran c Colin Munro b Lockie Ferguson 2 (6)

OUT! Caught. Lockie Ferguson to Sam Curran. Leg cutter short, down leg side on the back foot cutting, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep point, by Munro. This is quite the collapse from England. Curran flays the bat at this short delivery, and scythes it straight into the hands of deep point. New Zealand are running through this middle order very quickly. Tough for the visitors to pull this off now.

  • 17.4

Lockie Ferguson to Tom Curran. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot Steer, to third man for 1 run, fielded by Sodhi.

OUT! Bowled. Lockie Ferguson to Lewis Gregory. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, missed to. England are crumbling to defeat now. They were cruising with five overs to go. James Vince c Tim Southee b Blair Tickner 49 (39)

OUT! Caught. Blair Tickner to James Vince. Half volley, outside off stump Deep in crease driving, mis-timed to mid off, by Southee. The momentum is with the Kiwis now. Tickner gets his second, as Vince chips one into the hands of Southee at mid off. Wanted to clear the inner ring, but didn't strike it well enough. End of a decent knock, but it might not be enough for his side.

OUT! Run Out. Tim Southee to Sam Billings. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot working, hit pad to point, direct hit by Munro. Double strike for the Kiwis! They are back in this contest now. The ball trickles off the pad, and Billings sets off for the single without knowing where the ball has gone. Vince sends him back, but the keeper-batsman is too late to turn back. Munro flings it into the stumps, and the dive doesn't even save the Englishman.
