SIX! Tim Southee to Aamer Yamin. Length ball, middle stump moves in front driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Cries of catch but that is for the crowd. Wonderful strike down the ground as Southee misses his length. That was very close to being a superb final over until the final two balls. Pakistan end on 181-6 which looks about par on this ground and surface. Fakhar once again got his team off to a flying start before some lusty blows down the order added some much needed momentum going into the second innings. This is set up to be a decent game.

A brilliant performance from Sarfraz's men after starting off the tour miserably but they fought back to show what they are made of. New Zealand were not really at the races with the bat, starting off slow and struggling to keep up the run-rate. Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor hit a few lusty blows over the rope but unfortunately it was in vain. They will hope to clean up a few issues before the Tri-Series.
