  • This will be the first meeting between New Zealand and Zimbabwe in a women’s international; indeed, New Zealand have never lost in their first match against an opponent in a women’s T20I (W8 T1) with a 17-run win against Bangladesh in February 2020 the last time they met an opponent for the first time.
  • New Zealand have lost their last three consecutive women’s T20Is after winning five of their previous six matches in the format; though, since the beginning of 2024 they’ve only lost one game against teams other than Australia or England.
  • New Zealand lost by six wickets to Australia in their last women’s T20I at Seddon Park (28 March 2021) after winning three in a row at the venue prior to that frame; indeed, three of those last four matches there were won by the team batting second on the day.
  • Zimbabwe will become the 15th different team to play a women’s T20I match in New Zealand and the ninth to play a fixture against the White Ferns in New Zealand; though, three of the eight teams to have faced New Zealand at home in the format are yet to register a win, England (W13 L2) are the only team to log more wins than losses.
  • Zimbabwe have lost their last six women’s T20I matches despite winning the toss three times in that frame; indeed, they’ve lost each of their four matches so far in 2026 and a fifth straight loss would equal their worst start to a calendar year (L5 in 2024).
  • Zimbabwe will be looking to win a bilateral women’s T20I series (min. 2 games) for the first time since April 2025 when they defeated the USA 2-1, losing two such series since then.
  • The last New Zealand bowler to take multiple wickets on their women’s T20I debut was Amelia Kerr in November 2016, when she logged 3/16 against Pakistan; potential debutant Nensi Patel has taken four wickets across her last three T20 innings at Seddon Park, including figures of 2/2 against the Canterbury Magicians in her last innings at the venue.
  • Izzy Gaze (New Zealand) hit 43 boundaries during the 2025/26 Super Smash campaign, the most of any player in the competition; she scored 155 runs – including two half centuries – across her last four innings in the competition and is unbeaten across her last three T20I innings for New Zealand (5*, 20*, 3*).
  • Kelis Ndhlovu has hit 12 sixes across her T20I career, the most of any Zimbabwe player in women’s T20Is; indeed, she comes into this match on the back of an unbeaten score of 52 runs against Nepal and has scored 302 runs at an average of 50.3 across her last 10 innings.
  • Loreen Tshuma (49) is set to play her 50th T20I and would become the ninth player to reach the milestone for Zimbabwe in women’s T20Is; in fact, she’s also three away from reaching 50 wickets in the format and has taken three wickets from 34 balls delivered thus far in 2026.
