This will also be the first of the doubleheader in the midweek and Qalandars will be feeling a bit relaxed knowing they are going to be part of the play-off irrespective of results in the upcoming games.

However, a side of their quality, which also thrashed Peshawar by 40 runs in the first of the double round-robin on February 26, will aim for nothing less than the top of the table as they have 12 points from seven games.

Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, will like to make a statement of their intentions, knowing that a victory will put them level on points with Islamabad United (2nd) and Multan Sultans, who have 10 points each.

However, skipper Babar will have to worry about his own form first as he hasn't fired in two games with scores of 0 and 7 while his opening partner Mohammad Haris has an embarrassing pair of ducks in his last two innings.

20-year-old Saim Ayyub has fired two half-centuries in the last five innings but it's hard to rely on the youngster as he has been inconsistent.

This makes the role of Tom Kohler-Cadmore very important as he comes into the game firing back-to-back half-centuries. There is further support down the order in Haseebullah Khan and Rovman Powell, who have also delivered half centuries recently.

Zalmi also made some crucial changes to their bowling line-up with both foreign and domestic names misfiring. The changes paid off with all-rounder Aamer Jamal delivering a 3/43 on his maiden feature in the season while also showing his hands with the bat with a 5-ball 14 cameo.

Afghan duo of pacer Amartullah Omarzai (3/28) and spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/28) also delivered the task handed to them while the team hopes they will continue with their showing when senior pacer Wahab Riaz has picked just two wickets in five games.

Lahore, on the other hand, are worried about the form of their skipper Shaheen Afridi, who went wicketless in back-to-back three games. Afridi, however, took a fifer against this very opponent in his best show of the PSL season.

Haris Rauf has found form during this period with five wickets in three games, including 3/22 against Quetta Gladiators while pacer Zaman Khan remains an understudy with six wickets in as many games.

However, it's Rashid Khan, who has taken over charge of the bowling with the pacers blowing hot and cold. The Afghan all-rounder picked nine wickets in five games and has made timely contributions in slog overs with the bat as well.

Fellow overseas all-rounders David Wiese and Sikandar Raza have played the supporting role with the ball as well. Raza, in particular, has done the job with the bat too as the memory of his 71 not out against Quetta remains fresh.

However, the form of the top-order batters of Lahore Qalandars is fast eroding with both Fakhar Zaman and Mirza Tahir Baig not firing in the last two innings.

Shafique Abdullah, however, has remained consistent with 183 runs in four innings, including a 75 on Qalandars' debut. Sam Billings has been crucial as well with a half-century in the last game.
