... THE RUN CHASE ...
Easy chase? Alright then, 156 is the target for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The target is completely achievable and the pitch looked really good to bat on. However, the new batters seemed to struggle a bit in the first innings, but once the batters got settled, they were having no problems dealing with the deliveries.
Up for a quick chat - Kamil Pooran starts off saying that he is happy to get the opportunity and would like to thank the Almighty for it. Reflecting on playing his first game in the CPL, Kamil Pooran began by giving thanks for the opportunity, sharing that hitting his first boundary gave him a strong boost of confidence. He added that a solid practice session in the nets the previous day made him feel great coming into the match, where he aimed to stay positive and play to the best of his ability. Discussing his innings, he admitted he was fortunate with the bounce early on, but after the team lost two quick wickets, he mentally resolved to stay positive and brave. He expressed a slight disappointment at not extending his knock further, though he remains hopeful of carrying through in the next game.
Kings' rally crumbles at the end - After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Saint Lucia Kings didn't quite have the dream start as Saurabh Netravalkar got a double breakthrough in his first two overs. However, Kamil Pooran and Jewel Andrew notched an 82-run partnership, which steadied the game, and the momentum shifted from the Patriots to the Kings. But once the partnership was broken by an out of the world peice of fielding from Wanindu Hasaranga. The Patriots got back their momentum as the bowlers, especially Jason Holder and Saurabh Netravalkar. They both finished by taking three wickets each, but it's the skipper who was the pick of the bowlers as he only gave away 20 runs from his four overs. The wickets kept on crumbling, and the Kings' hopes of posting a mammoth total were crushed.
Top shift from the bowling unit - The bowlers of Saint Lucia Kings bowled really well throughout the game. Yes, they leaked some runs in the middle phase, but they were vigilant enough to get right back and restrict there oppositon around a decent total.

Shadley van Schalkwyk falls for the trap as he looks to power it over long off, but ends up looping it flat toward Kyle Mayers in the same region. McKenny Clarke is the new batter at the crease.

The ball loops toward Jason Holder, who is just standing at the edge of the boundary ropes. Holder keeps his calm and reverse scoops it over his head.

Player of the Match - Andre Fletcher is the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 48 runs in 41 balls. He praises his team's composure for restricting Saint Lucia to a manageable total despite their fast start. He explains that attacking in the powerplay is a planned strategy, and once Kyle Mayers fell, he took full responsibility to anchor the chase and bat deep.

However, Andre Fletcher held his nerve at one end, batting through the entire innings to finish unbeaten on 48 off 41 balls. Joined by Wanindu Hasaranga, Fletcher guided his team home comfortably to seal a fantastic victory.
An explosive powerplay - Chasing 156, the Patriots kicked off their innings with pure intent as Johnson Charles smashed 16 off just 5 balls before being bowled by Matthew Forde. Kyle Mayers then picked up the mantle, launching an onslaught over the Kings' attack with a quickfire 32 off 16 balls. Even a rain interruption after the 7th over at 68/2 could not dampen SKNP's momentum. By the halfway mark, the Patriots were comfortably cruising at 90/2, needing just 66 runs from the remaining 60 deliveries.
The bowlers pull the Kings back - Saint Lucia Kings opted to bat first but suffered a nightmare start as Saurabh Netravalkar struck twice early to send back Andries Gous and Ackeem Auguste, reducing the hosts to 12/2 inside three overs. Youngsters Kamil Pooran and Jewel Andrew then launched a sensational counter-attack, adding 82 runs for the third wicket to push the Kings toward a 180-plus trajectory. Both completed their half-centuries. However, a brilliant relay run-out by Wanindu Hasaranga and Andre Fletcher broke the dynamic partnership, opening the floodgates for SKNP. Top-class death bowling from Jason Holder (3/20), Netravalkar (3/32), and Obed McCoy (1/34) choked the scoring completely, restricting the Kings to 155/8.
Silence at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground - St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have put up an all-round performance to secure a 5-wicket win.
