  • This will be the fourth time that England and Scotland have faced off in ODI cricket; England have claimed victory in each of the last three.
  • Scotland have hosted England at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh once before in this format; the visitors managed to win by a margin of seven wickets in June 2010.
  • Scotland have tasted defeat in back-to-back One Day Internationals ahead of this contest; they haven't endured a longer losing run since going eight matches without a victory between February 2015 and July 2016.
  • England have won 22 of their 29 ODI completed ODI games since the start of 2017, a victory percentage of 75.9%; only India have managed a better rate in that time (76.5%).
  • Eoin Morgan's men have claimed wins in 11 of their last 14 ODI matches to have been played outside of England and Wales (78.6%); Scotland have registered victories in four of their last five at this venue in ODI cricket (L1).
  • Joe Root has scored 451 runs at an average of 64.4 so far in 2018, he ended 2016 as well as 2017 with an average of over 60; 61.2 across 14 innings and 70.2 over 18 knocks during 2016 and 2017 respectively.
  • Root however has only managed to post 18 runs across his two outings versus Scotland to date; making 17 in Aberdeen during 2014 and he was out for just one run in his most recent appearance against them in February 2015.
  • Moeen Ali has only been able to average 15 across his eight ODI knocks thus far in 2018; he did post his highest ever score in the format in his only previous encounter with Scotland though (128 off only 107 balls, February 2015).
  • Eoin Morgan needs 130 more runs to become England's all-time leading runscorer in ODIs, it would require him to set improve upon his highest ever score in the format however (surpassing his 124* v Ireland in 2013); he has averaged over 50 against Scotland to date however (seven previous innings).
  • Scotland's Safyaan Sharif has taken 21 ODI wickets in 2018; only three bowlers have claimed more this calendar year (Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Graeme Cremer).
