  • South Africa will be looking to wrap up the series with a second victory; it would make it the third consecutive bilateral men's T20I series between South Africa and England that has been won by the home team.
  • South Africa have won five of their six men's T20Is at home against England, including their last four on the bounce; their only defeat in that span came by a margin of just one run in November 2009.
  • This will be South Africa's first men's T20I played at Kingsmead since March 2016; they've picked up wins in their last three games at the Durban venue, though this will be the first time they've hosted England there.
  • England have been unsuccessful in each of their last four chases in men's T20Is (T1, L3), after having successfully chased a total in their previous five games when batting second.
  • South Africa boasted a power play batting strike rate of 183.8 in the first match of this series, their highest in a men's T20I since November 2018 against Australia (233.3).
  • England registered six errors in the field during the series opener against South Africa (two drops and four mis-fields), with Joe Denly and Jason Roy both responsible for dropping a catch and recording a mis-field; the Proteas only registered two across the entirety of England's chase (two mis-fields).
  • Four of the last five dismissals recorded by Quinton de Kock (South Africa) in men's T20Is come against spin; indeed, each of his last two dismissals against England have come at the hands of Moeen Ali.
  • Jason Roy has logged three consecutive scores of 50+ (67, 69, 70) in men's T20Is - the first England player to do so; a fourth consecutive half-century would equal the longest streak in the men's format (Brendon McCullum in 2008/09 & Chris Gayle in 2012).
  • Lungi Ngidi (South Africa) took bowling figures of 3/30 in the first match of this series - just the second time he'd taken 3+ wickets in a T20I; he bowled exactly two-thirds of his balls in the first match of this series on a length, the highest of his T20I career thus far.
  • Eoin Morgan (England) has a batting strike rate of 169.3 in men's T20Is since the beginning of 2019; among players from Test-playing nations to have faced at least 100 balls in that time only Australia's Glenn Maxwell (183.3) outranks him in this category.
