  • West Indies snapped their winless run in five straight multi-game bilateral men’s ODI series by taking a 2-0 lead against the United Arab Emirates; a win in the third game would see the Windies sweep their first such series in Asia since beating Bangladesh 2-0 in October 1999.
  • West Indies have won each of their last two men’s ODIs played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, both in the ongoing series; the last time the Windies won more such matches on the bounce at the venue was a stretch of three between October 1988 and October 1989.
  • United Arab Emirates have lost six of their last seven (W1) men’s ODIs played at home, including the last four on the bounce; a loss in the third ODI against West Indies will give them their outright longest losing streak at home in the format.
  • West Indies snapped their winless run in five straight multi-game bilateral men’s ODI series by taking a 2-0 lead against the United Arab Emirates; a win in the third game would see the Windies sweep just their second such series in Asia in the 21st century (3-0 v Afghanistan in November 2019).
  • West Indies have logged a bowling dot ball rate of 58% in men’s ODIs since the start of 2023, the highest of all full-member sides; however, 60.5% of the runs the Windies have conceded have come from boundaries – second to only India (63.1%) during the same timeframe.
  • West Indies have aggregated a catch success rate of 87.5% in men’s ODIs since the start of 2023, second to only South Africa (90%) among full-member sides; the Windies have caught 21 of the 24 chances presented to them.
  • Asif Khan has logged a batting average of 40.3 in men’s ODIs, the second highest by any United Arab Emirates batter to have batted at least 20 innings in the format; however, he has never scored more than 30 runs against a full-member side in the format (27 runs vs WI on 4 June 2023).
  • Shai Hope (West Indies) has logged a batting average of 81.3 in men’s ODIs played in Asia, the highest of all batters (min. 10 innings batted); however, he hasn’t scored more than 25 runs in each of the first two games (23 & 13*) of the ongoing series.
  • Basil Hameed has logged a bowling strike rate of 28 in men’s ODIs, the highest by any United Arab Emirates bowler (min. 10 innings bowled); however, he’s failed to log a wicket in each of the first two ODIs, last going more innings without a wicket between January 2020 and February 2022 – three innings.
  • Brandon King has scored 25.1% of West Indies’ runs in men’s ODIs since the start of 2023, the third highest such rate logged by a batter of a full-member side (min. 4 innings batted); only India’s Shubman Gill (26.2%) and Ireland’s Harry Tector (25.8%) have logged a better such rate during the same timeframe.
