The skipper of West Indies Women - Hayley Matthews says winning the toss was crucial, with the pitch offering a bit of tennis-ball bounce early on, and she was pleased that her side was able to take advantage of those conditions. Adds that there was also a degree of tactical awareness involved, having played Sri Lanka earlier in the year. Matthews feels the decision to play an extra spinner made a significant difference on the day. Reflecting on the chase, she says there were never any real nerves in the dressing room because they bat deep. However, she admits the side would have liked to chase the target a little more convincingly. Hayley says this puts them in a really good position heading into their clash against England. She adds that confidence within the group is high after three wins on the trot, but stresses that the team remains focused on taking it one game at a time.

The captain of Sri Lanka Women - Chamari Athapaththu says that the wicket was a bit sticky today, and West Indies bowled according to the conditions. She adds that they needed 140 on this wicket, but they fell short. She reckons that their bowlers did a good job, but they gave away extras. She further says that 98 was never going to be enough against this West Indies side. She ends by saying that their bowlers did well, but they need to improve on their batting.

Damage done up front - With this being the first game of the tournament in Bristol, there was a degree of uncertainty around how the surface would play.
