Tennis: Hanley-Ullyett beats Paes-Damm

By Staff

Shanghai, Nov 16: Tennis ace Leander Paes and his Czech partner Martin Damm have to pull up their socks to keep alive the Indian veteran's desire to win his third Masters doubles title here, after they were outplayed by the Aussie-Zimbabwean pair of Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett in a group match.

The second seed Hanley-Ullyett, who knew they had qualified for the semifinal before taking the court, celebrated with a 6-3, 6-4 win over the previously unbeaten Paes-Damm duo in a meaningless round robin match yesterday.

However, the fourth seeded Indo-Czech combo might get an opportunity to settle scores against Hanley-Ullyett duo, as both the pairs, who are playing their final tournament together, would face each other again in Sunday's final, provided they win their respective semifinal encounter.
