Rebeca Andrade Biography

Andrade's journey in gymnastics started in a gym that felt like an amusement park to her. Her aunt's involvement in the gym played a crucial role in her discovery. She trains twice daily at the Brazilian Training Centre in Rio de Janeiro under the guidance of national coach Francisco Porath Neto.

Club and Achievements

She represents Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. Her notable achievements include winning silver in the individual all-around and gold in vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also secured silver on uneven bars at the 2021 World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, and gold in the individual all-around at the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool, England.

Injuries and Comebacks

Andrade has faced multiple injuries throughout her career. In 2019, she injured her ACL during trials for the Pan American Games, requiring surgery and sidelining her until March 2020. She also had ACL injuries in 2017 and 2015, along with a broken toe that forced her to miss the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Her mother has been the most influential person in her career. Brazilian gymnast Daiane dos Santos is her idol. Andrade's nickname 'Rebeyonce' stems from her admiration for US singer Beyonce, whose music she used for her floor exercise at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Andrade received the Brasil Olimpico Award as Best Sportswoman of the Year and Best Gymnast of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
