Tajinder pursued higher education in Physical Education at Malwa College of Physical Education in Bhatinda, India. His multilingual abilities include English, Hindi, and Punjabi. He resides in India with his wife, Sandeep.

Coaching and Training

Since 2013, Tajinder has been coached by Mohinder Singh Dhillon. He trains at the National Centre of Excellence in Patiala, India. His rigorous training regime has been pivotal to his success in the sport.

Memorable Achievements

One of Tajinder's most notable achievements is winning gold in shot put at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. This victory was particularly significant as it came during a challenging period for his family. His father had been battling cancer for two years and passed away shortly after Tajinder returned from the Games.

Injuries and Comebacks

Tajinder's career has not been without setbacks. In July 2022, he sustained a groin injury during a training camp in Chula Vista, California. This injury prevented him from competing at the 2022 World Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Despite still recovering, he won a gold medal at the National Games in Gujarat in October 2022.

Earlier, in 2020, Tajinder broke his left wrist, which sidelined him for three months. He resumed training in January 2021 and competed at the Tokyo Olympics later that year. Post-Olympics, he underwent wrist surgery and returned to competition in February 2022.

Awards and Honours

Tajinder's contributions to sports have been recognised with several awards. He was named the flag bearer for India at the opening ceremony of the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal. In the same year, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award from the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Family Support

Tajinder credits much of his success to his family's unwavering support. Despite his father's illness, his family never pressured him to attend to hospital duties, allowing him to focus on his sport. Friends also played a crucial role by handling hospital formalities during his absence.

Professional Role

In addition to his athletic career, Tajinder serves as a chief petty officer in the Indian Navy. This role adds another dimension to his already impressive profile.
