TNPL 2016: Captain Dinesh Karthik powers Albert Tuti Patriots to victory in opener

Chennai, Aug 25: Captain Dinesh Karthik and the bowlers starred as Albert Tuti Patriots defeated Chepauk Super Gillies by 45 runs in the first match of the inaugural Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) Twenty20 tournament here yesterday (August 24).

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, Karthik struck a 49-ball 67 not out to help Patriots post 164/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, Super Gillies were bowled out for 119 in 19.4 overs. R Aushik Srinivas and Akash Surma took 3 wickets apiece while L Balaji picked 2.

After opting to bat first, Patriots' innings was powered by skipper Karthik. Batting at number three, he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes on way to an unbeaten 67 off 49 balls.
