Pakistan have posted a respectable 150/6 thanks to half centuries from Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed at Manuka Oval. When the captain was dismissed at the end of the 16th over by a superb piece of fielding from David Warner, it seemed as though the tourists would struggle in the death overs. Iftikhar had other ideas though and launched a devastating assault with five fours and three sixes to keep Pakistan in the contest. Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins were the star performers with the ball for the hosts, keeping things very tight on a surface that looks ideal for the batsmen.

Australia have cruised to victory by seven wickets in Canberra, making light work of the target set by Pakistan. Steve Smith was at his dominant best, unleashing a wide range of quirky and belligerent shots to take command of the chase after David Warner and Aaron Finch fell inside the powerplay. The right-hander finished unbeaten on 80 to put the hosts 1-0 up in the series. Earlier on Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins were parsimonious with the ball, although Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed helped the tourists to a score that had looked out of reach at one stage with some lusty blows. Attention will now shift west to Perth where the series will conclude on Friday night.
