  • New Zealand will be looking for back-to-back wins against England for the first time since June 2015 and for a fifth series win in their last seven bilateral endeavours against England.
  • England will be hunting to win back-to-back bilateral series in New Zealand for the first time ever, after taking a 2-1 victory in 2012/13.
  • This will be the first meeting between these teams at Hagley Oval in any format, though New Zealand remain undefeated at the venue in ODIs, claiming eight wins from their previous eight games there.
  • Indeed, New Zealand have never been dismissed in an ODI at Hagley Oval and have scored at an economy of greater than six runs per over in five of their eight games there.
  • England haven't lost consecutive ODIs away from home since losing the first two of a three-game series against India in January 2017.
  • England have won five of six bilateral ODI series since the beginning of 2017, losing only to India (1-2 in January 2017).
  • Eoin Morgan is set to play his 200th ODI overall (177th for England); he has struggled in New Zealand however, posting only one half-century in nine attempts there (62 off 63 balls).
  • Ish Sodhi snagged a career best 4/58 in the fourth ODI; he has taken more wickets than anybody else in this series to date (nine).
  • Fresh off posting the third-biggest ODI score ever by a New Zealand player (181*), Ross Taylor has hit two centuries in his last three innings and has recorded more ODI runs versus England than any other Black Cap (1,381); averaging 51.1 against them.
  • Jos Buttler has smashed nine sixes this series, more than any other player and his joint-most ever in a single series.
