  • New Zealand have won their last three consecutive men’s ODIs against England after winning only one of their previous seven meetings in the format (T1 L5); the last time they won more successive matches against them in the format was a five-match streak from June 2008 to February 2013.
  • New Zealand will be looking to clean sweep a bilateral men’s ODI series against England for the first time since a 3-0 win in February 1983 after winning the first two matches of this ongoing series; in fact, this will be their first series win against England since June 2013.
  • England won by four runs in their last men’s ODI against New Zealand at Sky Stadium in Wellington after losing all three of their meetings at the venue in the format prior to that match; indeed, all four meetings between these teams at Sky Stadium have been won by the team which lost the toss on the day.
  • This will be New Zealand’s first men’s ODI at Sky Stadium since February 2019 and they have lost their last four matches in a row at the venue; indeed, their last win at the Wellington stadium came against the West Indies in March 2015 by a margin of 143 runs.
  • New Zealand have won 11 of their last 13 men’s ODIs including their last five in a row with only India (twice) defeating the Black Caps in that term, while England have lost four of their last five matches (W1) in the format including their last two in a row.
  • England are on a nine-match losing run in men’s ODIs played outside England, with seven of those nine matches seeing them fail to defend a total on the day; indeed, their last win on the road came against the West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in November 2024.
  • Mitchell Santner (49) is set to play his 50th ODI in New Zealand; he’s hit five sixes during this ongoing series against England – his second-most in a single ODI series – and has scored a series-high 51% of his 61 runs straight down the ground.
  • Jamie Overton (England) has scored 40+ runs in back-to-back ODI innings after never previously reaching that mark in any of his six prior innings in the format, despite his making a false shot on 45% of the 82 balls he’s faced in this current series against New Zealand which is the most of any batter from either side (min. 12 balls faced).
  • Kane Williamson (New Zealand) has scored 473 ODI runs at Sky Stadium in Wellington, the most of any player in the men’s format, at an average of 67.6; he needs just 27 more to reach 500 runs scored at the ground, which would make it the first venue at which he’s scored as many runs.
  • Adil Rashid’s next wicket in ODIs will be his 235th in the format and see him eclipse Darren Gough (234) for the outright second most wickets for England in the men’s edition of the format behind only James Anderson (269); indeed, he has taken at least one wicket in each of his last 14 ODI innings.
