Bengaluru, June 11: It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students of a Government Higher Primary School in Kundalahalli here on Thursday when they met and interacted with former India captain Rahul Dravid.
Dravid, who has joined hands with P&G India for its Corporate Social Responsibility programme "P&G Shiksha" with the motto 'Padhega India, Badhega India', today visited the school as part of the initiative.
Visiting the "P&G Shiksha" school in his hometown, Dravid passed on useful tips on cricket and also stressed on the importance of education. The excited kids mimicked "The Wall" and asked him about his school days.
"I have been supporting P&G Shiksha over the years by choosing P&G products and today I am very happy to visit the P&G Shiksha school and witness the difference it has made in the lives of the children here in Bengaluru," Dravid, who was recently appointed as coach of India 'A' and Under-19 teams, said.
The former India captain felt the next Dravid could come from this school. "I strongly believe that education is extremely important for every child's growth, however focusing on overall development is also very important.
"I am happy to see the hunger and enthusiasm in schoolchildren today and look forward to more children coming through the ranks and make it to the Indian cricket team - the next Rahul Dravid could be from this very classroom," he added.
He continued, "As the India Under-19 and 'A' team coach, it is a privilege to interact with such talented students at schools and encourage them to take up sports as I believe that a good combination of academics and sports go a long way in moulding and building character of an individual."
