Harpreet Singh Bhatia is an Indian cricketer, who represents the Chhattisgarh cricket team and Central Zone in domestic cricket. Bhatia was born on August 11, 1991, in Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. Besides being an attacking top-order batsman, Bhatia made a name for himself as a right-arm medium-pace bowler. With stellar performances in all domestic cricket formats, Harpreet has established himself as a veteran cricketer of the Indian domestic game.
Bhatia began his domestic career with Madhya Pradesh in 2008 and featured for the side till 2017 before switching to neighboring Chhattisgarh. Notably, Harpreet has significant achievements in First-Class cricket, amassing over 4000 runs, including a career-best score of 221 with 15 centuries. Additionally, he has scored more than 2,000 runs in T20 cricket and more than 3,000 runs in List A games.
Bhatia came into the limelight in the Cooch Behar Trophy's 2008–09 season, where he scored over 700 runs and was named the best Under-19 cricketer of the season. In 2009, Bhatia was selected as vice-captain for the U-19 tour of Australia, where he amassed 262 runs at an average of 52.40. Later that year, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh.
Following his outstanding performance, Bhatia represented India in the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in New Zealand. Harpreet became Chhattisgarh's second-leading run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during the 2022–23 domestic season, with 196 runs from five innings.
Harpreet got an opportunity to become a part of the IPL 2017 season after Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased him to replace Sarfaraz Khan due to injury. However, he didn't play any matches. Later, in the IPL 2023 auction, the Punjab Kings bought this senior cricketer at a price of INR 40 Lakh. His best batting effort came against Mumbai Indians in a win as the batter scored his IPL best of 41 but lost his place in the team right after the match due to strong competition.
