Born on July 3, 1998, Manimaran Siddharth represents the Tamil Nadu cricket team in the domestic circuit. He operates as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, who is known for his potential to deceive the batsmen by varying the amount of spin and the pace of the delivery.
Siddharth kick-started his Twenty20 career on November 22, 2019, playing for Tamil Nadu in the 2019–20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Mumbai. The Tamil Nadu-born then debuted in first-class cricket on December 9, 2019 in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy against Karnataka. His List A debut came against Punjab on February 20, 2021, in the 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he performed superbly well, accounting for 12 dismissals during the competition. Impressed by his performances, he was initially signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for his base price of INR 20 lakhs in IPL 2021 season. Nevertheless, he didn't get enough game time as he warmed the bench throughout the season.
After being released by the franchise, he was roped in by the Delhi Capitals for INR 20 lakh during the IPL 2021 player auction. Unfortunately, his career didn't take off with the Delhi-based franchise as he was replaced by Kulwant Khejroliya following an injury.
The pacer-turned-spinner entered the IPL 2024 auction with a base price of INR 20 lakhs. The likes of Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru expressed their interest to recruit his services. However, in the end, the Lucknow-based franchise had the last laugh in the battle as they penned his signature for INR 2.4 crore.
Manimaran Siddharth was on cloud nine when he picked the biggest wicket of his career by dismissing Virat Kohli in IPL 2024 season. It was his maiden wicket in the IPL and it was an unforgettable moment that he will cherish forever. He tricked Virat Kohli by bowling a fuller delivery on the off-stump before the batter got a leading edge as Devdutt Padikkal took a catch at backward point.
