Odean Smith Biography

Odean Fabian Smith is a Jamaican cricketer, who plays for the West Indies national cricket team. Smith was born on November 1, 1996, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Smith is considered an all-rounder, who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm fast-medium. Odean started playing cricket at a very young age and achieved several feats.
In the 2014–15 Regional Super50 competition, Smith made his List A debut in January 2015. Two years later, on August 2017, he made his T20 debut for the Jamaica Tallawahs side in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League. Meanwhile, in the 2017–18 Regional Four-Day Competition in December of the same year, Smith made his first-class debut for Jamaica.
Following his stellar domestic cricket performance, Smith was selected to be a part of the Professional Cricket League for the Trinidad and Tobago national cricket team ahead of the 2018–19 season. He was also included in Trinidad and Tobago's squad for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament in November 2019.
Smith's international debut came with T20s in April 2018 for West Indies Cricket against Pakistan in Karachi. After four years, in November 2021, Smith was named in the West Indies' One Day International (ODI) squads for their series against Pakistan. However, he didn't get the chance to play in that series. He played his first ODI against Ireland in January 2022.
Since the beginning of his cricket career, Smith has participated in many franchise leagues. In July 2020, he was named in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. Also, he was chosen to be a part of the Dambulla Giants side for the 2021 Lanka Premier League. In IPL, Smith made his IPL debut in 2022 after Punjab Kings acquired his services for the 2022 IPL season but was not retained for the subsequent season. Gujarat Titans picked him at his base price for the 2023 season.
