Rovman Powell IPL Profile

Rovman Powell is a West Indies cricketer who plays in all cricket formats. Powell, nicknamed as 'Knight,' also plays for Combined Campuses in domestic cricket. He was born on  July 23, 1993, in Kingston, Jamaica. Currently, he is the captain of the Caribbean side the T20I format. Apart from his batting prowess, the all-rounder also bowls medium-pace, making him a valuable asset in the shorter formats of the game. 

Powell made his List A debut in January 2015 for Combined Campuses against Guyana and was named man of the match, taking 3/20 and scoring 31 runs. Following his impressive performance in domestic cricket, he soon got a chance to play for the West Indies national team. Powell made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in November 2016 and scored 44 runs with 29 balls.

Powell's big-hitting abilities did not go unnoticed for long and was selected for the ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe in 2017. He played his debut T20I against Pakistan in Bridgetown a few months later in 2017. Notably, Powell's first ODI century against Ireland gave West Indies a vital victory in the 2018 World Cup qualifying match.

Powell got an opportunity to be a part of IPL 2017 after the Kolkata Knight Riders bought him. However, he didn't play any matches that season and didn't participate till 2021. After a string of outstanding performances in various T20 leagues in 2022, Powell was signed by the Delhi Capitals in the mega auction.

The all-rounder became an important member of the side as he played the role of a finisher in the middle order, striking at a rate close to 150. However, following poor outings in the 2023 season, Powell played just three games as Delhi Capitals were the first side to go out of the playoff race.

Besides IPL, Powell has played for several other premier leagues and has been a consistent performer.
