
Bengaluru, August 4: As motor sports fraternity mourns the loss of Spanish legend Angel Nieto who died in a quad bike crash, the image of Formula One driver Jules Bianchi also pops up to the mind.
The Frenchman who drove for Marussia F1 team lost his life on July 17, 2015, after being in an induced coma since the fatal accident during the Japanese Grand Prix on October 4, 2014, when lost control of his car in rain and collided with a recovery vehicle.
Bianchi, who became the first F1 driver to die during a race in an accident since Ayrton Senna at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix would have turned 28 on Thursday (August 3) and his contemporaries including Williams driver Felipe Massa took to Twitter to remember him on the occasion.
Happy birthday brother #Jules we miss you !!, Massa posted an Instagram picture of them together during the racing days.
One of the most promising drivers of his time, Bianchi's death was a shock to his peers and brought back to focus safety issues in F1, which had plagued the sport long back.
Others in the paddock circles also joined to pay tributes to Bianchi whose career was nipped in the bud by one of the most freakish accidents in motor sports history.
