Ajay Mandal Biography

Born on 25 February 1996, Ajay Mandal is an Indian allrounder cricket player, who plays for the Chhattisgarh cricket team in state-level cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Ajay is a left-arm spinner and is known for his aggressive and entertaining lower-order batting style.
Ajay has played for the Chhattisgarh squad at every age level, including the U-14, U-16, U-19, and senior Ranji teams. He made his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season and immediately came into recognition after picking up a total of seven wickets in the game. Following that, he got included for his state side in all formats of the game. But he first made the headlines in the 2019-20 edition of the Ranji Trophy slamming an unbeaten 241* against Uttarakhand playing as the number 8 batsman.
The successive season of the Ranji Trophy saw even a better version of him where he picked up 10 wickets and scored 147 runs. Ajay started making strides in the domestic ranks and even was handed the armbands. His best-ever season however came in the 2022-23 season of the Ranji Trophy season. Ajay picked up a massive 29 wickets during the tournament-highest for Chhattisgarh while he also managed to score 193 runs in five appearances.
On the back of his successive outing, he finally managed to earn a contract in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings during the auction roped him in for the 2023 edition for his base price of Rs 20 Lakhs which will hand him an opportunity to shine in one of the most elegant stages.
