Nitish Rana IPL Profile

Nitish Rana is an Indian cricketer who represents Delhi in domestic cricket and also captains the state team. He has been an integral member of Kolkata Knight Riders side since 2018 and was also appointed acting-captain of the franchise in IPL 2023 in the absence of regular captain Shreyas Iyer. He is a left-handed batsman and can also have an impact with the ball. He is a right-arm off break bowler.

Born on Dec 27, 1993, Rana is 30 years of age ahead of IPL 2023. He is blessed with a frame of 5 ft 10 in and has a body weight of around 63 kg. Nitish married with his long-term girlfriend Saachi Marwah on 18 February, 2019, who is a cousin-sister of Indian-comedian Krushna Abhishek.

Rana is an aggressive middle-order batsman who was bought by KKR ahead of the 2018 season and has been retained by the franchise ever since. Rana caught the eye for KKR last season despite the franchise enduring a poor campaign. He was KKR's second highest run-scorer in IPL 2022, behind Shreyas, with 361 runs at a strike rate of 143.82. It was a disappointing year for the team, as they finished seventh in the league with six wins and eight losses.

Before his spell with KKR, Rana was in the ranks of Mumbai Indians between 2015 and 2017. He has played just one ODI for India till date which was against Sri Lanka in 2021. He has also represented India in two T20Is, also against Sri Lanka in 2021. In the IPL Auction 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders acquired the services of Nitish Rana for Rs 8 crore.
