Chetan Sakariya IPL Profile

Chetan Sakariya is an Indian international cricketer, who plays for Saurashtra in domestic cricket in all formats at the senior level. Sakariya was born on February 28, 1998, in Vartej, Gujarat, India. He is a left-arm fast-medium and is especially known for bowling in middle overs, with a speed of 130–135 km/h. 

Chetan began playing cricket professionally at the age of 19 and made his List A debut for Saurashtra against Baroda in Delhi on February 2018 during the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Sakariya won his maiden first-class cap against neigbouring rivals Gujarat in Nadiad later that year. His stellar performance on debut with his five-wicket haul once again impressed everyone. He returned with figures of 5/83 in the first innings and followed that up with 1/71 in the second innings. 

The following year, Chetan got the chance to play his first professional T20 cricket as he made his debut in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. So far, Chetan has picked up 31 wickets in 18 T20 matches at an economy rate of 7.19, with the best figures of  5/11 in this format.

Chetan's impressive domestic performance bagged him a contract worth Rs 1.2 crores from the Rajasthan Royals at 2021 IPL Auction. Sakariya soon played his first IPL match against Punjab Kings and picked up a three-wicket haul by dismissing KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jhye Richardson. 

However, the player was released by the franchise the following season ahead of the mega auction, where he was wrapped up by Delhi Capitals. 2023, however, turned out to be a pale season for the bowler with just two outings in the season.

The selectors included Sakariya in the Indian team for the 2021 tour of Sri Lanka after noticing his skill with pace variations. He made his ODI debut in July of that same year. A few days later, he played his first T20I debut against Sri Lanka.
