Dilshan Madushanka IPL Profile

Born on 18 September 2000, Lokumarakkalage Dilshan Madushanka is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who currently plays limited-over internationals for the Sri Lankan national cricket team. The Hambantota-born was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. During Sri Lanka's plate quarter-final match against Nigeria, Dilshan Madushanka let his ball do the talking by taking a fifer in 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

In the same year, he made his Twenty20 debut for the Dambulla Viiking in the 2020 Lanka Premier League and there was no looking back since then. In 2021, he was selected to represent the Galle Gladiators following the players' draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League. In the subsequent year, he was roped in by the Jaffna Kings for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League. 

Impressed by his performances, the Sri Lankan selectors gave him an opportunity to play across formats. His international debut came against Afghanistan in a T20I match in 2022. In the subsequent year, he made his ODI debut against India and Test debut against Pakistan.

Madushanka made a terrific start to his international cricketing venture, particularly in the game against India, where he rattled Indian top order by swinging the ball into the right-handers, and flattened the stumps twice including knocking Virat Kohli of the ground followed by Deepak Hooda.

Madushanka opened up his ODI wicket tally by taking the wicket of Rohit Sharma, a moment that he will cherish for the rest of his life. He brought the best out of himself in the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 tournament, where he took a total of 21 wickets in nine games at a superb bowling average of 25.00.

It is also worth noting that he bagged his maiden ODI five-wicket haul against India, wherein he registered 5/80 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Impressed by his performances in the ODI World Cup, Madushanka was recruited by Mumbai Indians (MI) during the IPL auction for INR 4.6 crore.
