Mujeeb Ur Rahman is another Afghanistan talent who has followed in the footsteps of his superstar compatriot Rashid Khan.  With a mesmerizing blend of off-breaks, leg spin, and ripping googlies, Mujeeb has become a force to be reckoned with in T20 leagues across the globe. 

Some of his deliveries have been heavily influenced by the likes of mystery spinners like Ajantha Mendis, Sunil Narine, etc while squeezing a tennis ball between his fingers to bowl off-spin has similarities with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin. Overall emulating some of the great spinners of the game has seen Mujeeb develop well-concealed carom balls and googlies, which have improved his skills.

Mujeeb's journey to cricketing prominence began at the tender age of 16 when he donned the Afghan jersey, swiftly establishing himself as Rashid Khan's apprentice in the national team. His precocious talent was on full display during the Under-19 series against Bangladesh, where he spun a web around the opposition with figures of 7/19, setting a record with 17 wickets in the tournament.

As he transitioned to senior cricket, Mujeeb's impact only grew stronger. His ODI debut against Ireland in late 2017 was nothing short of sensational, as he dismantled the opposition with a spellbinding performance, claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs and earning the coveted Man of the Match award.

The pinnacle of Mujeeb's burgeoning career came with his selection for Afghanistan's inaugural Test match against India in 2018, where he showcased his mettle and promise. He continued to shine on the global stage, playing a pivotal role in Afghanistan's journey at the ICC Men's World Cup 2019 and the ICC Men's World Cup 2023.

In the fast-paced world of franchise cricket, Mujeeb's talent did not go unnoticed. At just 17 years old, he secured a lucrative contract with the Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), announcing his arrival with 14 wickets in his debut campaign. He became a part of the Kolkata-based franchise in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Though he may have lost some of the mystery surrounding his bowling in recent years, Mujeeb remains a potent wicket-taking option. He is a renowned name in T20 leagues around the globe for the same reason.
