Narayan Jagadeesan IPL Profile

Narayan Jagadeesan is an Indian cricketer who represents Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Jagadeesan hails from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and is a wicket-keeper cum right-handed batsman. He was born on 24 December 1995 and is 27 years of age ahead of the IPL 2023 campaign.

Jagadeesan caught the eye following his highly impressive stint in the first season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2016. He also made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy and started making a name for himself. He also made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017.

Jagadeesan was snapped up by Chennai super Kings in the 2018 IPL auction but was unable to make it into the first-team on a regular basis. He had to wait until 2020 to make his IPL debut and has only played seven IPL games so far. At the IPL Auction 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders acquired his services for Rs 90 Lakhs.

Narayan Jagadeesan has a frame of 5 feet 11 inches and has a body weight of 65 kg. In 2021, Jagadeesan broke the record for the highest individual score in List A cricket. He achieved this feat by scoring 277 against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2022–23 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Jagadeesan is known for his excellent wicket-keeping ability. He is very safe with the gloves and is also quite agile. He opens the innings for Tamil Nadu in the List A and first-class formats whereas has been used as a middle-order batter in T20 cricket. We will have to wait and see how KKR plans to use Jagadeesan, who has plenty of potential and can prove to be a solid bargain.
