Rachin Ravindra IPL Profile

Rachin Ravindra, a name synonymous with cricket excellence, has carved a reputation for himself as a promising superstar of New Zealand cricket. Born to Indian parents in Wellington on November 18, 1999, Rachin Ravindra operates as a dynamic left-handed batter and a left-arm spinner.

Quite interestingly, Rachin's name is a tribute to his father, Ravi Krishnamurthy's admiration for Indian batting maestros, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, blending 'Ra' from Rahul and 'chin' from Sachin.

His all-around abilities marked him as a standout talent in domestic cricket, earning him numerous opportunities with the Under-19 and New Zealand A teams before advancing further in his cricketing journey. His solid performances for Wellington in domestic cricket paved the way for his international debut for New Zealand in a T20I against Bangladesh in September 2021.

Ravindra also went on to make his Test debut against India, just a couple of months later in the same year. However, his ODI debut came a few years later in 2023 against Sri Lanka. Little did everyone know he would make waves in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

The left-handed batsman finished the marquee event as the fourth leading run-getter and New Zealand's top run-scorer. He aggregated 578 runs in 10 games at a remarkable batting average of 64.22 and a strike rate of 106.44. It is worth mentioning here that he hit three centuries and two fifties in the tournament.

Impressed by his batting credentials, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recruited his services for INR 1.8 crore at the IPL 2024 player auction. He made his IPL debut in the game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai where he scored a quickfire 37 off 15 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
