Shaik Rasheed Biography

Shaik Rasheed was born on September 24, 2004 in Guntur, a city in Andhra Pradesh. Life was not at all easy for Rasheed in the early stages of his cricketing venture. His father, who supported his cricketing aspirations, lost his job twice. Despite all these setbacks, the father and son would travel 40 kilometers from their home to Mangalagiri so that Rasheed could train with state and district coaches.
Their dedication and hard work eventually bore fruit. He made his debut in first-class cricket on February 24, 2022, playing for Andhra Pradesh against Services during the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season. The Guntur-born also debuted in T20 cricket on October 16, 2022, representing Andhra Pradesh in a match against Nagaland in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The young batter, at just 18 years old scored an unbeaten 37 against Nagaland. Rasheed was a key member of the India U-19 team that clinched the 2022 U19 World Cup. Shaik Rasheed gained significant attention when he was appointed the vice-captain of the India Under-19 team during the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup held in the West Indies.
His standout performance came in the semi-final against Australia, where he pitched in with 94 runs. In the final against England, he contributed significantly by scoring 50 runs off 84 balls. This impressive display brought his exceptional talent into the spotlight.
His consistent performance and hard work were rewarded when he was picked up by the Chennai team in the IPL 2023 auction. They invested in this promising young player, securing him at the base price of INR 20 lakhs. He didn't get a chance to make his debut in the IPL 2023 season. The youngster was retained by CSK for the IPL 2024 season.
