Paes-Damm storm into finals of Ordina Open

By Staff

's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, June 22 (UNI) Leander Paes and his Czech partner Martin Damm continued their ruthless form going into next weeks' Wimbledon Championships with a straight sets victory of 6-2 6-3 against Michael Kohlmann of Germany and Robert Lindstedt of Sweden at the Ordina Open here.

The top-seeded duo followed up their quarter-final win with an even better show today as they did not let give their rivals any leeway to come back into the match at the 353,450 euro event.

The Indo-Czech combine not only sent down seven aces compared to two from the opponents, but converted 93 per cent of the first serves while winning three out of the six break points against none by the rivals.

Paes and Damm had cruised to a comfortable 6-4, 6-4 victory against the Danish-German pair of Kristian Pless and Benjamin to progress into the semis.

The Paes-Damm pair, who have been seeded fifth at Wimbledon, face the winner of Coetzee/Wassen vs [WC]de Bakker/Wessels contest or Gulbis/Ljubicic duo in the finals.
