  • Australia have lost just one of their last 29 men's Tests against New Zealand (W21, D7); they won the first Test of this series by a margin of 296 runs, their second biggest victory by runs against the Black Caps in the format (297 in Auckland, March 1974).

  • Ross Taylor (New Zealand - 7,124) requires 49 runs to become the all-time leading scorer for the Black Caps in men's Test cricket (Stephen Fleming - 7,172), his Test batting average (47.2) is second only to Kane Williamson (52.2) amongst New Zealand players in the format's history (min. 20 innings).
  • Steve Smith (Australia) has scored more runs against right-arm seam than any other batsman in men's 2019 Test matches (546), averaging an impressive 109 in the process; he's been out three times for just 44 runs versus left-arm seam however, two of which coming in the 1st Test (Wagner in both innings).
  • Colin de Grandhomme finished the first Test of this series between Australia and New Zealand with a bowling dot ball percentage of 84%, the highest of any player; it's his second consecutive Test with a dot ball rate above 80% after having not done so in any of his four Test appearances prior.
