Ashton Turner is a talented Australian cricketer known for his excellent batting and occasional off-spin bowling skills.
Hailing from Perth, Turner progressed through the age-group system and is a product of the Fremantle Cricket Club. Initially starting as an off-spinner, he represented the Australia Under-19 team in India in late 2011 and was their main spinner at the 2012 U-19 World Cup.
Throughout his career, Turner evolved into a highly successful all-rounder. He debuted at Western Australia's JLT One-Day Cup in February 2013, scoring a rapid half-century. Turner also made his Sheffield Shield debut later that year and earned a Hampshire scholarship in the UK during his early days.
Becoming a mainstay in Western Australia's team, Turner was appointed vice-captain in 2017 and took over as captain towards the end of the 2017-18 Shield season.
Turner's international career took off when he was selected for Australia's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad against Sri Lanka in February 2017. He made his T20I debut on February 17, 2017, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In February 2019, he was included in Australia's One Day International (ODI) squad for the series against India and marked his debut with an impressive unbeaten 84 off 43 balls, earning him the Player of the Match accolade.
Following his breakthrough performance, Turner secured a lucrative contract with the Rajasthan franchise for the 2018 IPL season. Despite a slow start with three consecutive ducks, his career trajectory looks promising as he was recently acquired by the Lucknow franchise in the 2024 IPL auction after being released by Rajasthan.
Turner has excelled in various T20 leagues worldwide, being a key player for the Perth Scorchers and having led them on multiple occasions in the Big Bash League.
