Lalit Yadav is an uncapped Indian cricketer, who was born on January 3, 1997, in Najarfgarh, Delhi. He is a right-handed lower-order batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. Yadav made a maiden appearance for Delhi domestic team during the 2017-18 zonal T20 league.
He made his first-class debut in the same season in Vijay Hazare Trophy. The all-rounder was fast-tracked into the Delhi domestic team after hitting 6 sixes in an over twice.
He first achieved the feat while playing for his local team sporting club at Najarfgarh sports complex. He then did it again during the DDCA t20 league at the Firoz Shah Kotla (currently known as Arun Jaitley Stadium).
During his first-class debut, he scored 52 runs in his first-ever innings as Delhi defeated Maharashtra by innings and 61 runs. He went out to score three half-centuries in his first 4 innings.
His power-hitting abilities and handy off-break bowling helped Delhi clinch the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in his debut season. He maintained his spot in the team throughout the season and was soon picked by Delhi Capitals in the 2020 IPL auction.
However, he didn't play any part in the COVID hit 2020 season, as Delhi finished runners-up. In 2021, he made his IPL debut and impressed with his bowling as he was used as a utility player over seven matches.
While Delhi had to release the all-rounder ahead of the mega auction, they purchased him at the bidding at an increased price following a see-saw battle with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He became an integral part of the franchise for the subsequent season as he played the majority of the game.
Born and brought up in the same locality as Indian cricketer icon Virender Sehwag, Lalit is a self-professed fan of the former opener. Lalit Yadav's father's name is Zile Singh Yadav, and he has an elder brother Arun Yadav.
