Rahmanullah Gurbaz IPL Profile

Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an Afghan cricketer who plays internationally for Afghanistan and Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League. He is a wicket-keeper and is known for his explosive batting. Gurbaz is most comfortable as an opener and is a very aggressive batsman.

Born on 28th November 2001, Gurbaz is aged just 21 ahead of the IPL 2023. However, despite his young age, he is quite experienced in the shortest format of the game. He has a frame of 5 feet 8 inches and has a body weight of 67 kg.

Gurbaz comes from a humble background with his family belonging from Gurbaz tribe in Afghanistan. He created history when he became the first batsman for Afghanistan to score a century on debut in a One Day International (ODI) match back in January 2021.

Gurbaz might be 21, but has already made a name for himself at international circuit as well as in T20 leagues across the world. He has been a major hit in Bangladesh Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League and Caribbean Premier League in the past. He has also featured in Abu Dhabi T10 League.

In March 2022, Gurbaz was named as Jason Roy's replacement in the Gujarat Titans squad for IPL 15 Season. Even though Gujarat won the IPL title, Gurbaz could not break into the side. The Afghan opener was traded to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2023 and will represent the two time IPL Champions. Gurbaz is young and a dynamic cricketer with plenty of potential.
