Tim Southee Biography
Timothy Grant Southee or Tim Southee is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Southee is an experienced cricketer at the international level who plays for the New Zealand cricket team in all formats of the game, captains in Tests and vice captains in T20Is. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and an aggressive right-handed lower order batter.
Born on 11 December 1988 in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand, Southee is aged 34 ahead of IPL 2023. He plays for Northern Districts in the Plunket Shield, Ford Trophy and Super Smash as well as Northland in the Hawke Cup.
In his school days, he excelled at both cricket and rugby, playing representative rugby for the Auckland Secondary School and Northern Region teams. Southee is married to Brya Fahy and they have two daughters. He became one of the country's youngest ever cricketers, debuting at the age of 19 in February 2008.
Southee has been one of the best fast bowlers in the world for almost a decade and a half now. He is hugely experienced for the Blackcaps and has been a star in the Indian Premier League as well. He is not typically known for pace but for his variations, swingers and accuracy.
He is blessed with a frame of 6 feet 3 inches and has a body weight of 78 kg.
He made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings back in 2011 and played for Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and 2015. Southee featured for Mumbai Indians in 2016 and 2017 and for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018 and 2019. Southee has been with KKR since 2021 and the Kolkata franchise acquired his services once again in the 2023 auction for Rs 1.50 Cr.
